Method
3
- Go to the Create A Song Pickup page
and key in the unique Create A Song number that was sent in the
email message you received.
The sender did not leave a name. Who sent
this song?
The Internet makes it somewhat easy
to be anonymous when sending an e-mail message because
of its underlying technical design. However with a
little detective work, you can find the origin of the
mail that was sent. At the bottom of the e-mail you
received informing you of the Virtual Song, is a line
stating: "The originator of this item was logged
into IP Address www.xxx.yyy.zzz at h:mm". The
"www.xxx.yyy.zzz" is the "Internet IP
Address" of the location from where the message was
sent. This is the ONLY information which we have since
it is the only information the Internet provides to us.
You can use this "Internet IP Address" to ask
your Internet Service Provider / System Administrator,
who was logged into that IP Address at the time/date the
original e-mail was sent to you. Many systems keep
records of this information and will access it for you
if you ask. Depending on where the message was sent
from, you may be directed to talk to the
provider/administrator of another system.
What happens to Song after two
weeks?
After 14 days,
the Song and all records are destroyed. We have no
mechanism to recover the information after that time.

Why can't I find the name I
want?
Due to the thousands of
names that exist, we are unable to offer all of them. Our name list
was created from the most popular names of the last decade according
to the US Census Bureau. Our current name list applies to over 75%
of the US population. In addition, our list features over 300 of the
most popular baby names. All combined Create A Song currently offers
over 2000 different names!
There are 3 things you can do:
1) Look
for a name that may have the same pronunciation but a different
spelling of the name you are looking for. (Example; Cathy =
Kathy) Once you select a name
for your song, you will have the opportunity to change the spelling
of the recipient's name. This spelling will be used in the song
lyrics, greeting and/or printed on their custom compact
disc.
2) Choose a generic name like Baby,
Sweetheart, Sister, Mom, Dad, etc.
3) Go to the contact page and send us
an email with the name you would like added. We will be collecting
these names and adding them to our list to include them in future
songs.
Why did I receive a "Non-Delivery"
notice?
Some service
providers provide the ability to restrict e-mail access.
For example, AOL users can configure their mail options
to only receive e-mail from other AOL subscribers. Since
Create A Song is not an AOL account, in this example,
the mail would be rejected by the AOL mail system.
The
Non-Delivery notice will normally include some
information that indicates the reason the mail system
rejected the e-mail notification. Once you understand
the problem, you should send the Virtual Song again.
How do I know if my song was
received?
If you
supply us with a return address and you selected to
receive a pickup notice, we will attempt to send you an
e-mail notice when the item is read.
The Create A Song site will
try its best to send each and every item submitted.
There are a large number of e-mail addresses submitted
to us which turn out to be old, mistyped, or otherwise
incorrect. Please double check the address by sending
mail through your regular mail system then CAREFULLY
copy it to the Create A Song web page.
Why was my e-mail address rejected?
Any e-mail address which does not conform
to the Internet mail standard will be rejected by the program. A
common problem is to include spaces in the address. Some examples of
valid and invalid addresses are:
- VALID ADDRESS EXAMPLES:
- name@domain.com
- name@domain.edu
- name@domain.gov
- name@domain.au
- INVALID ADDRESS EXAMPLES
- name
- name@domain
- first last @domain
What does "FAIL TO PARSE HTTP"
mean?
It means that
you have encountered a bug in an older version of the
AOL browser. If you upgrade your AOL browser, this
problem will be corrected.
